Let me tell you about my wife...
It's here... the year most men dread: Valentine's Day. I do not dread it. Not now, anyways. This post is my attempt to give my wife something meaningful and if I'm successful she be reading this on Valentine's day Just after her Valentinr cards arrive. If you're not her DON'T TELL HER! I am unstable, I work in customer service. I could snap at any minute. You could be the straw that sets off the many slayings.
If you are Her, My wife, awesomeface, HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY, BABY!
So... on we go!
Valentine's Day always seemed inadequate to me. To try and squeeze into one day all the feelings you have for a person is about the same as trying to be an environmentalist by planting 4 billions trees in your yard on Arbor Day. Showing someone how much you care about them should be something you do every day, not just on some single day.
Anyway, I was trying to best decide how to show my wife (here's her eljay home) how much I love her and how important she is to me. This is a pretty hard task. Words aren't always up to every task, most especially this one. So I decided you should all know some things about My amazing, beautiful wife. This is by no means a complete list. The internet just isn't big enough for all the reasons.
First, let's talk about how smart and talented she is. She plays down her smarts a lot and she shouldn't. She just doesn't know how critical I am of stupid people (they deserve it) and how honest I am to people about my estimates of their intelligence. She's always saying how badly she did in school as a measure of how she is something other than smart. I know better. People learn in different ways. She's the kind of person that learns best through doing, and soaks up experience like a sponge. Well, when I met her, she hadn't done enough to get her going. She hadn't been challeneged For instance, When I met her she could barely turn on a computer. Seriously. She was using AOL and had just taken her first steps into the addiction of Roleplay. She knew how to log on and how to log off. Now? well, let's see what just a little experience has done...
-Now she can hook up and clean her own computer. Not just the On Button
-Can install additions to her OS... sure it may be to make it pretty, but it still has to work, and it does, and it's usually without any assistance at all
-She roleplays in writing better than most books I've read lately and in more detail than I ever did.
-Can install upgrades and fixes to games she's playing.
-She's an avid gamer and has maxed out characters in most every game she's ever played... something I've never accomplished once.
-She knows more about these games than I usually do.
-She's taught herself enough coding to make her own sites in the past and to make them well. she doesn't use fancy programs, just plain ol' notepad.
-She's helped out others having computer design problems on various forums.
-I've heard her give perfectly good advice to people regarding how to keep their computers running. No she doesn't have to ask me first.
-She's taught herself how to draw marvelously with a pen tablet without any instruction.
-She's learned the very tricky art of photography, starting with the cheapest little camera I could get my hands on and she's a better photographer than I'll ever be.
-She's better at the internet secrets than I am, even though she won't admit it.
-She can cook! NOM OUM NOM
Those are some pretty serious geek creds! For some reason THIS person doesn't think much of her delicious BRAAAAIIIIIIINNNS. Obviously she's wrong. No idiot can just be good at this sort of thing. It takes some brainpower!
Now, how about her, personally? She's shy, that's for sure, but she's always been that way. The internet has helped her come out of her shell a bit from when I first met her. When we first met in an AOL RPG chat room she was as meek as her character. Now?
-She's funny. I mean real, no foolin', laugh out loud funny. She's funny in person and she writes some damy funny posts.
-She is the most unbelievable feminine woman I've ever known. It's freakin' awesome. Everything about her screams woman. By this point I've rather gotten used to the color pink. She may tell me we've painted the room Cherry Cobbler, I know we've only painted it a "very dark pink."
-As shy as she might be, she has no trouble making jokes in line at the grocery store! Even more so if they involves pinching my butt.
-She cares for people, and she doesn't understand why people don't care for one another. Sure, she doesn't like that the stupid people can breed (who does!), but she cares for others... sometimes more than she should.
-She's an amazing friend, and not just to me but to others. I've known her to forgive a friend where I may not have. She's generous with her love and tolerant of faults. (This is quite useful for me)
-She's a good listener. I can tell you, though this may come as no surprise, I'm one hell of a boring person. You have no idea how much talent it takes for her to stay awake when I'm talking.
-She cries easily and for the right reasons. Puppies, kittons, family, love and a really good story.
-She's one of those rare and unique people that loves enough to put herself at risk, something that's bit her in the past and something that will never bite her with me.
-She's incredibly passionate. I mean INCREDIBLY. Unfortunately for her, it's always been something I've not been, but I think she sees through this and understands... and that makes her amazing.
-She loves, loves, LOVES the Disney Magic. I've always had apsecial place in my heart of Disney and even though she also gets int it for the sparkly reasons, she really does love it for the right reason: for all it's rampant consumerism, Disney is a magical place where you can be a kid no matter how serious life is outside.
-She's picky... about a lot of things. Yeah, this makes her amazing, too. It might be annoying sometimes, like when I want us to have steak or shrimp or cheap shitty tacos, but I'd rather her be picky and vocal about what she wants instead of meekly accept what I say BECAUSE I AM MAN!
-She argues with me. Sometime people think arguing means bad things. They are wrong and stupid. She understands this. This fills her with win.
-She curses as well as I do. This is no small feat.
And this, my friends (and strangers and homeless people at the library) is the person I've been lucky enough to marry and spend the last 7 and a half years with. Why she stays with me with all of my issues and problems and incredibly low standard of living I'll never know. It's just one more thing that makes her amazing and wonderful.
These things and many more are the reasons I love her and love her even more than when we first met.
Happy Valentine's Day, Baby! I Love you more than kittons and bar-b-que!*
*This is an infinite number.
